Lionfish Hunting

Lionfish Hunting Trips are available at the Akumal Dive Shop.

Our guests have the opportunity to join our professional dive masters and instructors in the hunt to spearfish lionfish in open waters. Divers will spot lionfish over the course of the dive, while staff members spear and collect them. You can learn how to do it as well, if you are an experienced diver.

There’s a delicious solution to combat lionfish (an invasive fish species threatening the marine ecosystem off Akumal and Caribbean shores). Eat them!
Upon returning from the outing, the freshly-caught lionfish will be cleaned and delivered to the chef at the restaurant, where the group will meet later that evening to feast on the morning’s catch.

The Lion fish dive can be booked any day of the week by calling, emailing or just walking to our front desk.
